Adaminaby is where the Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Scheme was officially opened in the 'old town', which is now partly under Lake Eucumbene on 17 October 1949. Back in 1956 when the town was moved to higher ground, it was known as New Adaminaby.
Snowy River Flyers regularly put on a BBQ, that is becoming well known for its excellent burgers. This is as good an excuse as any to go flying, perhaps including a diversion or two for the scenery. Also if you get a chance visit the interesting Snowy Scheme Museum in town.
